Registration for our Section’s 2025 Section Conference in Boise, Idaho May 7-9 will open January 6.

Welcome our AWWA Conference Visiting Officer
Ken Lykens is the General Manager of the Meridian Metropolitan District and is responsible for all infrastructure needs including drinking water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and stormwater. Mr. Lykens has 30 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, from planning through design and construction. His experience consists of leading multi-disciplinary teams to plan, design, permit, and deliver complex infrastructure and natural resource projects. Specific experience includes: utility operations and maintenance, contract management, facility construction and upgrades, asset management, data management, rate setting, and consensus building. Experience also includes working extensively with regulatory agencies at every level of government on a wide variety of regulatory compliance issues. Mr. Lykens has prepared and delivered hundreds of presentations to boards, elected and appointed officials, executives, senior management teams, trade organizations/associations, public interest groups, regulatory agencies, and the media.
Ken is a Professional Engineer with experience working for public utilities (large and small) and engineering consulting firms. He is a Board Member for the Water Infrastructure and Supply Efficiency (WISE) project and is the Vice Chair of the AWWA Water Utility Council (WUC).
Ken received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a M.S degree in Finance from Denver University.
