Position: Field Technician

Department: Operations
Salary: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE)

General Statement:
This position is responsible for operations, maintenance and repair of water production and distribution systems. These include the water mains, service lines, meters, wells, reservoirs, SCADA, hydrants, and booster stations. The Field Technician works closely with and reports to the Field Manager.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Read Water Meters monthly and on an as needed basis
- Replacement of Water Meters and Boxes
- Available for “on-call” status for one-week periods to respond to emergency or urgent calls during non-working hours
- Respond to SCADA alarms
- Maintenance of Vehicles, Equipment and Tools
- Communicate with customers and contractors as needed
- Perform other related duties as required
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Understanding water system operations
- Ability to read basic water maps and construction drawings
- Work independently with little to no supervision
- Ability to write clearly
- Ability to follow instruction – both verbal and written
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Ability to do repetitive tasks
- Ability to climb water reservoir – (40 Feet)
- Work In confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Walking, Standing, Lifting, Bending, Digging, Pushing, Pulling, Reaching, and Handling of field equipment as needed and for meter installation and replacement
Experience and Education Required:
- High School Graduation or Equivalent
- Ability to obtain Water Distribution Manager Specialist or Level 1 (within 12 months of employment)
- One Year Experience in Water Field Operations or Utilities Construction a plus
- Valid Washington State Driver License and acceptable driving record
