Located along the shores of Puget Sound, Lakehaven Water & Sewer District is headquartered in the city of Federal Way, Washington. Since its incorporation in 1990, Federal Way has focused on important community projects, such as downtown revitalization, transportation system improvements, new parks, and new community facilities for the performing arts. Lakehaven Water & Sewer District encompasses an area of approximately 35 square miles with a service population of approximately 135,000. The water system includes 450 miles of mainline, 25 wells and 12 storage tanks with an approximate storage capacity of 31 million gallons. The average daily pumping rate is about 10 million gallons per day (MGD). The sewer system includes 350 miles of mainline, 33 pump stations and 2 secondary wastewater treatment plants.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical & Control Systems Supervisor oversees the District’s Electrical & Control Systems (E/CS) section within the Engineering Department. This role is responsible for coordinating, planning, and directing E/CS staff to ensure all electrical and control systems for water, wastewater, and administrative facilities are maintained, repaired, and upgraded in compliance with District standards and local, state, and federal regulations. The Supervisor also manages employee performance within the E/CS section and serves as a project manager on select capital improvement projects. The Supervisor coordinates contracted services with external entities to develop and maintain the District’s electrical and control systems infrastructure.
Education & Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent with either a two-year technical college degree in Controls & Instrumentation or completed four years from an accredited electrical apprenticeship program together with five years of experience in progressively responsible leadership positions, OR any combination of experience or education which clearly demonstrates competency. A Washington State Journeyman's Certificate of Competency (01) or Master’s License. Licensing may be offset by demonstrated experience and knowledge in managing personnel, and electrical and control systems. Five years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair or the equivalent in job experience. Five years of experience in process instrumentation controls and their installation, calibration, and maintenance. Five years of experience in an industrial electrical and control systems environment and SCADA development related to the water and/or wastewater industry is preferable.
