MEDFORD WATER IS HIRING FOR A SKILLED JOURNEY LEVEL ELECTRICIAN (FIELD TECHNICIAN III). 

Salary range: $85,692 - $89,424.

The Field Technician Ill position is responsible for the operations of pumps, automatic valves, motors and instrumentation and control equipment of the water facilities and distribution system as well as providing technical and electrician support and service for water system instrumentation and control equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Requires expert knowledge of water distribution systems; Maintains supervisory control equipment, instrumentation, pump stations, reservoirs, and monitoring facilities; Performs trouble shooting and analysis of computer-generated information via telemetry systems, maintenance, and electrical tasks on water distribution systems. Active Communication and Respectfulness of co-workers and the public are skills required for this position, as are incorporating Medford Water Commission Values into daily activities.

  • Coordinates and participates in various electrical repair activities.
  • Operates and reviews water transmission and distribution systems related to pumpstations, reservoirs, and control facilities as well as recording and calculating daily demands and use.
  • Maintains various cathodic protection systems.
  • Prepares master meter readings for annual water report.
  • Prepares and maintains various documents and records.
  • Coordinates training of distribution operation for stand-by personnel.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Considerable knowledge of pumps, automatic valves, flow meters, hydraulic pilot systems, PLC Ladder Logic, SCADA and telemetry control systems; Knowledge in principles of water distribution, scheduling, training, safety, National Electric Code (N.E.C.), record keeping and cathodic protection; Skills in the use of personal computers and related software, prioritizing work, installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance on various types of equipment; Skill in communication and interpersonal interaction with co-workers, supervisor and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction; Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIRED
High school or vocational school graduation and six (6) years of progressively responsible lead, electrical and water distribution experience or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above; LME Maintenance Electricians License (or comparable mechanical pump certification/license) or Oregon Water Distribution or Treatment certifications, or General Radio Telephone Operator License (or comparable certification/license); Valid Oregon Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

Positions in this class typically require vehicle driving to and from project sites, kneeling, crouching, repetitive motions, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Positions in this class may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, limited ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, low-level lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, travel and must be generally available for 24-hour emergency response.
