Seattle Public Utilities has openings for two Water Conservation Program Managers:

  • Indoor Water Conservation Program Manager: Focused on reducing indoor water use in commercial and residential buildings.
  • Community Outreach Water Conservation Program Manager: Concentrated on water conservation outreach, youth education, and building partnerships.

As a Water Conservation Program Manager, you will be part of a dedicated team that administers the regional water conservation program known as the Saving Water Partnership. You will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of regional water conservation programs. You'll also support the development of the Saving Water Partnership's next 10-year water conservation plan and make a significant impact on our region's approach to water conservation.

Job Responsibilities

 

We are looking for collaborative team-players who are undaunted by complexity and enjoy managing programs through their entire life cycle. Successful candidates will have exceptional critical-thinking and program management skills and a demonstrated commitment to environmental justice and service equity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain expertise in water conservation best practices related to your program areas
  • Manage and implement existing water conservation programs, provide excellent customer service, manage contracts, and program budgets
  • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, partner organizations, and trade groups to support program goals; including the 19 utilities that participate in the Saving Water Partnership regional conservation program
  • Collect, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support reporting, evaluation, and decision making
  • Use behavior change frameworks like community based social marketing to set goals, identify audiences, and develop program offerings that are culturally relevant and impactful. Transcreating or translating materials when appropriate.
  • Lead strategy and provide guidance for engaging on water efficiency policy issues and emerging technology related to your program area
  • Support demand management efforts in the event of the activation of SPU’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan
  • Train and supervise interns

Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban design, environmental studies, public administration, or related

OR

  •  Education/Experience Equivalency: 2 additional years of relevant experience

AND

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in planning and research related to land use, urban economics, human services, environmental issues, conservation; or other work directly related to City planning and development activities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Strong program management skills
  • Commitment to environmental justice and service equity and demonstrated experience partnering with underserved communities
  • Experience with public outreach, education, and customer service
  • Experience and comfort working with technical information and projects especially those involving building systems, water or energy efficiency, water reuse or water system planning
  • Experience working in water conservation, resource conservation, sustainability, or related fields.

 

 

Additional Information

 

This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to come into the office a minimum twice a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.

The full salary range for this position is:  $52.20 - $60.83 Hourly
