Hiring Range: $32.73 - $56.39 per hour, DOE
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Covington Water District has openings in our facilities group for experienced water facility
technicians. Will perform repairs, maintenance, installation, inspection, and adjustment of
water distribution system, tanks, and reservoirs. Responds to water emergencies, customer
inquiries and complaints. Also responsible for various maintenance program(s) related to
water system and District facilities or vehicles. Very physically demanding job. Operates
construction related equipment such as a dump truck, backhoe, air compressor, jack
hammer, etc.
Minimum Experience/Education: Requires a high school diploma or GED and valid
Washington State driver’s license and the following experience:
Grade 1: 0-3 years relevant, hands on, water utility experience. Water Distribution Manager
preferred. Traffic Control and AC Pipe Certifications required within 6 months of
employment. Washington State Class A commercial driver’s license with Combination,
Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements required within 18 months.
Grade 2: 3-5 years related experience, Water Distribution Manager I Certification, Traffic
Control and AC Pipe Certifications required. A valid Washington State Class A commercial
driver’s license with Combination, Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements required.
Grade 3: 5+ year’s water utility experience. Requires a Water Distribution Manager (WDM)
II, Cross Connection Specialist (CCS), Traffic Control and AC Pipe Certifications, a valid
Washington State and Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Combination, Tanker, and
Air Brake Endorsements. A Water Treatment Plant Operator In-Training (WTPO-IT)
Certification is also preferred.
